A New Ghostbusters?

Oh, Ghostbusters! How I enjoy you so. You gave me scares, laughs, and all with some of the greatest actors I’ve known since I was young. Well, younger than I am now. And ok, I know Ghostbusters isn’t really scary, but it did scare me when I first saw this as a kid. At least some of the images in it scared me, like the crazy ghost in the library in the first one. Now when I watch it, I just laugh at all of the ridiculous designs of the ghosts even that crazy library ghost. This and the second film, are all time classic favorites of mine and with a lot of people as well. With that said, I think the next question that comes to everyone’s mind is,

Will they make a new movie?

If you haven’t heard already, there has been some talk about creating a third Ghostbusters movie. But the film itself has been going through a lot because they wanted to try and get it right. Which in my honest opinion makes a lot of sense, because for a film series like this that is just so memorable, you don’t want to screw it up. And for the most part, it looks like it has some potential. Dan Aykroyd has been working on the script, going through a bunch of rewrites and Harold Ramis seems to be on board with the project. Even Bill Murray was going back and forth on the project but whether he has decided to be fully on board with this is still a mystery. From the looks of it, it looks like he probably won’t return for this, but Dan Aykroyd has made it open for him to return, stating that he is not writing Murray’s character out of the script yet won’t be recasting the role either.

So with all that in mind, What do you think of the possibility of a third Ghostbusters movie? I think I would really like to see what they do this. There seems to be some potential, especially if there is a lot of work put into it, but I won’t know entirely what to think of it, until they’ve at least gotten close to being done with this. And there again, I won’t know when it will be finished because it’s still in the works. Nor will anyone for that matter. However it does look like it’s moving forward, so there’s an answer to at least one question. But if it does continue with production, I really hope Bill Murray is on board with this and I really hope the script is good enough for fans both new and old to enjoy. With a film that has been around as long as this one and has garnered a fairly large audience, you really need to be careful with the script and the characters. You don’t want to make something that would anger the life long fans and make them feel like there is no hope left in this world. Trust me, there are films out there that have done that. But Overall I really would like to see what is being done with this film and can’t wait until they get close to being done with it.
